It was introduced in early 2020 and is aimed at optimizing performance in high-performance mobile systems with low power consumption. Innovations implemented in UFS 3.1 include the non-volatile Write Booster cache for faster writing; a special DeepSleep power-saving mode for relatively simple and inexpensive systems; and the Performance Throttling Notification feature, which allows the storage to signal the control system about overheating. Additionally, this standard may also provide support for HPB extension, which increases read speed.
