The anticipation for the 10 series was not met, so I chose last year's model instead. Overall, the smartphone feels premium, and the system's operation is smooth. When using it, there is a subconscious confidence that it will handle any task, despite having a processor power level from 2021. The system has many diverse features and settings that other Androids lack - occasionally, the smartphone itself suggests using them and provides instructions. In some cases, it analyzes your actions and suggests ways to do things more simply and effectively, especially when using the camera. Photos in darkness are brightened; thanks to UltraHDR+, the main camera "sees" a brighter picture than what's actually there - it's cool, but when zooming in on such photos, some artifacts might be found due to the AI noise reduction. For example, in low light, AI transforms a cat's fur into something resembling hedgehog spikes. The front camera is quite noisy in poor lighting, but when you take selfies, the result is a normal photo without noise, although there might be white dots or spots on the face. No issues with overheating and performance in heavy games have been found. Thanks to the Titan M2 coprocessor, this is the most secure Android smartphone against hacking attacks. So as for impressions: the smartphone combines what I like in Apple (body design, smooth operation) and Android (multifunctionality and freedom of action). Not without flaws, of course, but I think it will satisfy the majority of users who choose it. Design, camera, smoothness, battery lasts 1.5 - 2 days, vibration, sound, exclusive AI features, updates for 7 years, material design, aesthetic pleasure in use No call log, inconvenient button placement, poorly positioned bottom speaker, the result of the photo differs from what you see when shooting in the "Camera" app, no gallery, no usual "wi-fi" and "mobile data" shortcuts separately in the dropdown menu (this can be configured), no access to "data" and "obb" folders, you can't just delete the search bar widget on the home screen, the microphone hole on the main camera gets clogged with debris, long charging time (one and a half hours). In 2024, Google introduced the large flagship Pixel 9 Pro XL, combining the Pro and XL models into one. The smartphone is equipped with a 6.8-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2992x1344 pixels, HDR10+ support, and a refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. This large device weighs just over 220 g, but thanks to its ergonomic design, it fits comfortably in the hand. The back panel is made of matte glass, and the main camera unit in the form of a horizontal oval insert gives the device a unique look. The package is traditionally minimalistic and does not include a case or charger.
Best cameras and long term support
The Pixel 9 Pro XL offers everything that fans of pure Android and cameras with outstanding capabilities value. The OS will be supported for 7 years. The main camera (50 + 48 + 48 MP) with optical stabilization is capable of shooting video in 8K at 30 frames per second. To improve the quality of photos, Google uses its proprietary Gemini AI. The 42 MP selfie camera also showed excellent results and is in the top five according to DxOMark. The Pixel 9 Pro XL cameras cope with any lighting conditions, which puts it in the top ratings of camera phones.
Performance and autonomy
The model is based on the Tensor G4 processor, which in tests such as AnTuTu demonstrates slightly less power compared to competitors (about 1.3 million points). However, for everyday tasks and even for demanding games, this is enough, although heating and throttling may occur. The 5060 mAh battery provides up to one and a half days of operation. Wired charging at 37 W, wireless at 23 W and reverse charging for charging other devices are supported.
Additional functions
The Pixel 9 Pro XL features an under-display fingerprint scanner, supports satellite messaging, has a built-in thermometer, and is IP68 waterproof for short periods of submersion. It's a modern flagship for those who value functionality and camera quality.
