Apple, which was the first to massively introduce fingerprint recognition technology into smartphones, at one time chose just such an arrangement of the sensor (and still continues to use it in its gadgets). However, this option is not very popular among other manufacturers. This is due to the fact that to install the scanner, you need a bottom frame of the appropriate size — and it increases the dimensions of the device and reduces the screen-to-body ratio (see the relevant paragraph). However, if this point is not important for you, a device with a front-mounted scanner may well be the best option (if the need to use the thumb does not cause inconvenience).
