Initially, NFC is a wireless communication technology with a short range (about 10 cm). And contactless payment is one of the most popular ways to use this technology. With an NFC, a smartphone can actually be turned into a contactless bank card; the payment systems used for this (Google Pay for Android, Apple Pay for iOS) allow you to add several bank cards into the settings at once (including the usual "plastic" without a chip, as well as virtual cards).

However, it is worth noting that NFC features are not limited to contactless payment. This technology can also be used for other purposes: “identifying” other NFC devices and automatically connecting with them via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, using the device as a pass or travel card, reading contactless RFID tags on products, etc.
