Chinese vs Global Smartphone Versions: What’s the Difference? We'll explore the dangers of skimping on a Chinese smartphone and whether it makes sense.
For its price, this is an perfect choice for a budget of up to $500. Price=quality
17 November 2025
I bought this smartphone in April 2025, the 8/256 version.

Before this, I had the Google Pixel 4a 5G, and I really liked the Samsung interface. It's strange that the creators of Android couldn't make their own OS as good as what Samsung did. Everything is smartly and ergonomically designed, including the in-screen fingerprint scanner - it works really well and is incredibly convenient.

Of course, it's not fair to compare them, since this Samsung is much newer than the Pixel I had before, but the camera is noticeably better and captures with more detail.

For everyday use and content viewing, 8GB of RAM is more than enough; everything runs smoothly. I haven't tested it in games, but I assume for those who love gaming, it's better to get the 12GB version; it definitely won't hurt to have it.

Charging from 5% to 100% takes 1 hour and 15 minutes with a 45W charger.

The display is pleasant, vibrant, and bright, and combined with good speakers, consuming content brings some very satisfying feelings.

During all the time I've used it, there have been no glitches, bugs, freezes, or spontaneous reboots. Updates come quickly; at the time of writing this review, it runs on Android 16 and One UI: 8.0. I'm also pleased with the built-in call recording feature (though it might not be available in all regions, according to YouTube reviews).

I would also recommend installing the Galaxy Enhance-X app (downloadable from Samsung's standard Store app), a useful and completely free tool.
Good camera, smooth interface, battery life, under-display fingerprint scanner - it's very convenient, pleasant in colors and brightness display.

For me, everything is fine. Except for their own stupid processor.

Among semi-budget devices it looks decent
2 January
Switched from an iPhone 12 Pro, which still outdoes this device overall. The iPhone was a gift; my stinginess wouldn't allow me to buy such a thing.

I was choosing among the most popular budget models with 12 GB of memory. Firstly, I tried the Xiaomi Note 14 Pro 5G - I quickly returned it due to annoying ads, unpleasant interface style, weak speaker sound, and complaints about the microphone.

I skipped the "Poco" brand, as it's just a copy of Xiaomi. The low price of the Motorola G series was off-putting.

My wife has the Honor 200 and I didn't want the same. I decided to add a couple of bucks to get a Samsung and ended up keeping it. Not so much because I liked the phone, but because I was too lazy to deal with returns and I understand that it won't get much better.

The speaker sound (music) is worse than the iPhone, but better than Xiaomi. Maybe it's missing some software processing.

It's also hard to get used to the system interface after iOS, but again, it's not as terrible as the Chinese brands, and most apps nowadays are already cross-platform. It's noticeable that Samsung tried to be "inspired" by the iPhone's ergonomics, but it falls short.
the battery is noticeably better than the old iPhone. Surprisingly for an Android, the interface hasn't been lagging much so far. There's a decent memory reserve for a few years. It's 2-3 times cheaper than any iPhone, even with 8 GB of memory, not to mention 12 GB. According to conversation partners, the microphone is good.
photos from apps are weak. From the native camera app it's okay, but not impressive. Screen brightness is lacking outdoors, and in the dark, automatic brightness often misses the mark. It's too big for me. Biometrics sensors are annoying after using an iPhone. The face recognition didn't work the first time, so I turned it off completely. I often have to place my fingers multiple times for recognition.
