Rubber body/back cover

— devices with back cover made of rubber — more precisely, of a hard material (most often plastic) with an additional rubber coating.

Such a design is an unmistakable sign of a protected shock-resistant device (see "Features"). The rubber coating significantly increases the depth of the case, however, due to its softness, it provides good protection against impacts, and also contributes to moisture resistance. At the same time, such a surface is tightly held in the hand and does not slip out — especially since it is often made corrugated (see "Back cover (body)"). As for the bezels in such devices, it is often made of metal — for additional strength and reliability; however, there are also devices in which the rubber coating of the back cover goes into a protective bumper on the bezels.
