Pre-release characteristics
The top-tier "Google phone" of the 8th revision was released in the fall of 2023 in a recognizable design with a horizontal camera bar on the back panel. It features a trio of lenses aligned in a row: behind the first one is a 50 MP image sensor with optical stabilization, behind the second is a 48 MP ultra-wide lens, and the third is a 48 MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom.
There is also a contactless thermometer sensor. The smartphone takes selfie shots with a 10.8 MP front camera, which is integrated into a hole-punch on-screen island. The display of the Google Pixel 8 Pro 256GB is equipped with an OLED panel measuring 6.75 inches diagonally, high resolution of 3120x1440 pixels, and an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120 Hz (LTPO).
The fingerprint scanner is embedded directly into the screen. The mobile device is powered by the homemade Tensor G3 chipset, focusing on advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. The model supports 5G cellular networks, boasts an IP68 water-resistant body, and features Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth v5.3. The smartphone's battery charges via cable (27 W) and wirelessly (23 W). Moreover, Android operating system updates for the device will be available for 7 years from release — until 2030.

Now about the phone itself:
- The artificial intelligence really leaves a positive impression, although some features are limited here. Nevertheless, you can experiment with creating wallpapers or engage Gemini.
- Circle to Search is a super feature, very helpful in everyday smartphone use.
- Secure face authentication is an absolute must-have. In twilight, it doesn't recognize the face anymore, but this limitation is manageable.
- The camera is simply gorgeous. Of course, I won't say I'm an avid phone photographer, especially being the owner of a mirrorless camera, but I have to note it.
- The smartphone's performance is very impressive; I don't play games, so I need a fast interface more.
- Pure Android - I've long thought this is exactly what I need. I'm tired of having additional apps, which are often clones of Google's.
- The screen seems flagship-like, hard to say how to evaluate it.
- As for the battery, I don't know what to say yet. I'm recharging once a day.
- Temperature sensor. Well, it's not that the phone loses much functionality without it, but I like the feature.
- The sound is cool, spacious, loud, detailed.
- Water and dust resistance, as an addition.
