— as the name suggests, the main feature of such cards is their reduced height. They are designed primarily for compact cases, where full-size board simply does not fit, but most often they can be used in regular-sized PCs — thanks to the interchangeable brackets supplied in kit. However, note that the reduced dimensions may affect the cooling efficiency and, accordingly, the maximum performance; therefore, it hardly makes sense to specifically look for a low-profile model for full-sized case, where there is enough space for regular board.
