— series of rally racing simulations inspired by the World Rally Championship (WRC)The WRC is a top-class tournament organized and hosted by the International Automobile Association (FIA) — the very structure that deals, in particular, with Formula 1 racing. Within the framework of the tournament, not only pilots compete for the best result, but also navigators and car manufacturers, and more recently, teams as well. Participants make time trials on closed public roads. The championship is held every year and consists of 12 races lasting about 2 – 3 days each; races, in turn, include an average of a couple of dozen stages on various types of road surfaces.
The "WRC" series of games (this is the official name — the same as the original tournament) is licensed by the FIA and, accordingly, reproduces all or almost all the features of the championship. As of the end of 2021, the series includes 15 main titles and three spin-offs. Initially, the games in the series were released only on the PlayStation, since 2010 WRC titles have been available for other platforms, including PC (Windows) and Xbox. Since 2016 (WRC 6), the French studio Kylotonn has been developing games, the publication is Bigben Interactive. Traditionally for sports simulators, games are released every year (exceptions are 2014 and 2018, as well as the period from 2005 to 2010); each new part takes into account changes in the set of tracks, composition of participants, used car models, etc.
