Grand Theft Auto (GTA)

— a cult series of games of a combined genre that combines action and racing in an open world. Allows the player to try on the role of a criminal — usually the character starts with the status of a "small fry" and moves up in the hierarchy of the criminal world as the plot tasks are completed. In addition to these tasks, third-party missions are also provided (including purely entertaining pastime options that are not related to the direct receipt of game benefits). Each game takes place in a fully-fledged, highly detailed city, where the player can move freely (although access to some areas may be limited by the story), choose main and side quests, search for caches and various Easter eggs. True to its name, the game allows you to steal almost any vehicle, including boats, aircraft, and even trains. If you want to earn play money, you can not only criminal, but also completely legal activities — working as an ambulance driver, fireman, courier, etc.; in many games, work brings not only money, but also important game bonuses (for example, an increase in maximum health).

The games in the GTA series are consistently popular with players and critical success, although the abundance of violence and sexual themes is often controversial. As of the end of 2019, the series includes 11 titles, of which two are mobile-only, one is mobile and PlayStation, and one is PS-only. The newest parts of the game — GTA IV and GTA V, 2008 and 2013, respectively, were released for PC, PS and Xbox (moreover, the fifth part is immediately for Xbox 360 and Xbox One). Also note that in 2018 GTA V became the third best-selling title in the history of video games.
