Spyro

— an extensive series of platform games released since 1998. After 2008, the release of new games was suspended, but in 2018 the series received a "new life" with the release of Spyro Reignited Trilogy for PS4 and Xbox One (versions for PC and Nintendo Switch were introduced a year later). This release, developed by Toys For Bob and published by Activision, is a collection of remasters of three of the very first games in the series originally intended for the PlayStation — Spyro the Dragon, Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon; while the changes affected mainly the graphics, while the level maps (including the location of objects and opponents) remained the same).

The games of the series are designed mainly for children and are distinguished by their characteristic bright design. The action takes place in a fantasy world, consisting of several "hubs" — key locations; each such location opens access to individual game levels. The plots of the games are quite simple and standard, they are based on the fight against evil and the search for certain artifacts. Most of the time, the player controls the titular character Spyro, but the third game, Year of the Dragon, introduces a few more playable characters. Spyro has two types of attacks in his arsenal (ramming and fiery breath), which must be used correctly in different situations, and wings give him the ability to plan, getting to places inaccessible with normal jumps. The hero is accompanied by the dragonfly Sparks, which plays the role of an indicator of health. Other characters have their own sets of skills, they have to be played during the passage of part of the levels.

At one time, games in the Spyro series received critical acclaim and acclaim from players; the remaster was also a success, notably reaching #1 in sales across all platforms in the UK and PS4 in Australia in its first week of release.
