Street Fighter

— the classic series of fighting games from Capcom, which has a cult status in fan circles and at one time became one of the primary sources of the genre as a whole.

The gameplay in Street Fighter, traditionally for games of the genre, is based on performing hand-to-hand combat techniques and repelling opponent attacks during arena battles. At the same time, different games provide various add-ons that bring variety to the gameplay. For example, Street Fighter V has an energy scale used for performing special moves, a “stun” scale, when filled, the character freezes for a while and cannot move, and a V-Gauge scale, where a resource is accumulated for counterattacks and additional moves.

The first game in the series was released back in 1987, since then five sub-series have been released for a wide variety of platforms, plus various spin-offs. Of the latest, most recent (for 2019) titles are Street Fighter V 2016 for Windows, SteamOS and PS4, as well as Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers 2017 for Switch. The latter game is notable for the fact that it allows you to use both modern and "classic" design styles, with pixel art and voice acting for the original slot machines. However, it received mixed reviews, while Street Fighter V was warmly received by both critics and the audience.
