Metal Gear Solid

— the famous action-adventure game series with a focus on stealth movement developed by Konami under the direction of the famous game designer Hideo Kojima (until his departure from the company in 2015). Actually, the first game in the series, released back in 1987, became the ancestor of the stealth action genre, it was for the sake of it that the term itself was coined at one time. Similar gameplay has been preserved in most sequels: the player must avoid collisions with the enemy as much as possible, using not brute force, but above all stealth and cunning.

The action of the games in the series takes place in the modern world in the period from the 1960s to the near future. The setting includes both real-life and fantastic technologies, as well as elements of alternative history. At the same time, the series received high marks for the plot and atmosphere. The plots of most games are complex, intricate and ambiguous, and in the course of action the player has to repeatedly deal with moral dilemmas, difficult decisions and difficult topics such as the ethics of the use of force, the "dark side" of the latest technologies, political and military expediency, etc. The atmosphere of what is happening is given by the abundance of in-game videos.

As of 2019, the Metal Gear series includes about a dozen main games and as many spin-offs, as well as numerous expansions and remakes. All games in the main series are available on PlayStation, and the two newest titles (for the same year 2019) are also available for Windows and Xbox (360 and One).
