Witcher

— a series of fantasy action-RPG games based on the universe from the famous book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. The main character is the character of the same name — the witcher Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster hunter with superhuman abilities. The action takes place after the events of the original literary cycle (the first game is 5 years after the end of the last book). As in the original source, the setting of The Witcher does not have a strict division into good and evil, many of the events and actions of the characters in it are not due to lofty ideas, but rather pragmatic and even mundane motives. The player himself often has to make choices in the course of the story that affect the course of the story and/or the ending of the game.

One of the interesting features of the series is the original, deeply developed style of combat, created with the participation of professional stuntmen and experts in medieval weapons. The combat system itself becomes more complex and improves from game to game; in addition to combat with weapons, it includes magic and alchemy.

As of 2019, the series has released three main games, as well as the multiplayer The Witcher Battle Arena in the MOBA genre. The main parts were released in 2007, 2011 and 2015, with the first part being available only for Windows, the second part also for Xbox, and the third part also for PS4 (a Switch version is also expected). All games received high marks from critics and fans — both for the atmosphere and adherence to the canons of the setting, and for the combat system and storytelling; and the third part is considered one of the best games in the history of the industry.
