Witcher

— a series of fantasy action-RPG games based on the universe from the famous book series by Andrzej Sapkowski. The main character is the titular character, Geralt of Rivia, a professional monster hunter with superhuman abilities. The action takes place after the events of the original literary cycle (the first game is set five years after the end of the last book). As in the source material, the setting of "The Witcher" does not have a strict division between good and evil; many events and actions of the characters are driven not by lofty ideals but by rather pragmatic and even down-to-earth motives. Throughout the storyline, the player often has to make choices that affect the course of the story and/or the game's ending.

One of the interesting features of the series is its original, deeply developed combat style, created with the participation of professional stuntmen and medieval weaponry specialists. The combat system itself becomes more complex and refined from game to game; in addition to weapon combat, it includes magic and alchemy.

As of 2019, the series has released three main games, as well as the multiplayer The Witcher Battle Arena in the MOBA genre. The main parts were released in 2007, 2011, and 2015, with the first part available only for Windows, the second also for Xbox, and the third additionally for PS4 (a Switch version is also expected). All games have received high praise from critics and fans alike for their atmosphere and adherence to the setting's canon, as well as for the combat system and narrative storytelling; the third part is considered one of the best games in the history of the industry.
