Uncharted

— an action-adventure third-person shooter/platformer series published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for PlayStation consoles. The player will take on the role of Nathan Drake, a treasure hunter and researcher of historical mysteries, experiencing adventures in various parts of the globe. Gameplay includes jumping between platforms and swinging ropes, swimming, climbing, fighting enemies and solving puzzles. In later games, the role of various vehicles (cars, boats) was expanded, RPG elements were added, and there was also a move away from a strictly linear passage of levels towards an open world: it became possible to freely explore vast locations and complete missions in various ways, including stealth.

As of 2019, the Uncharted series for desktop consoles includes 4 core games (the first three for PS3 with a PS4 remaster in 2015, the fourth for PS4 only) plus a standalone expansion for the fourth installment. In addition, two titles were released for PS Vita and one for smartphones.

On the whole, the Uncharted series has been a huge commercial success and has been praised by critics, with claims being made that the games in the series have "raised the bar for quality in the action-adventure genre". Massive recognition was given, in particular, to a well-developed plot, design, animation and voice acting of characters, musical accompaniment and a "cinematic" style similar to big-low-cost Hollywood films.
