The Sims series games

The Sims

— a series of life simulation games from The Sims Studio (in the early parts — Maxis). It is not only the most famous brand in its genre, but also one of the most successful franchises in the entire history of video games. In the main games of the series, the player will have to take control of one or more virtual characters (“Sims”), furnish their homes, monitor their well-being, ensure career growth, social interactions, etc. In this case, the player can both observe automatic behavior characters, and give them commands directly. There are no strictly defined goals in the main games, although they may be provided for in separate expansions and spin-offs.

The first game in the series was released back in 2000 and, despite its limited low-cost and outdated graphics, was a resounding success and in 2002 took first place in the list of the best-selling games of all time. As of 2019, the list of main titles includes only 4 games (numbered ones), with the newest part, The Sims 4, being released back in 2013. This situation is compensated by the abundance of expansions released for each part; these expansions introduce both new items and additional gameplay modes and storylines (sightseeing, career building, pet care, etc.). For example, at the same time in 2019, The Sims 3 had 11 expansion packs and 9 stuff packs, for the fourth part (as of the end of 2019) — 8 expansions and 15 item packs.

All major installments of the series are available for Windows, PS and Xbox; multiple spin-offs are released mainly for smartphones and portable consoles, occasionally for desktop consoles, and very rarely for PC.
