This is a third-person action-adventure game where the player has to move in three dimensions, using both Spider-Man's characteristic skills — using the web as a "bungee", moving along walls and ceilings, etc. — and new types of skills and equipment not previously seen in the games of this series. The game uses an open world where the player can freely roam around the city of New York.
In addition to the game itself, a three-part downloadable content (DLC) package was released in the same 2018. Both the main part and the additions received fairly high marks from critics and players.
