The protagonist of the series is an ancient Greek warrior named Kratos, who opposes the gods of Olympus and, in the later games, the Norse gods. The games use a third-person view, and the combat system is based on the use of combo techniques and Quick Time Event (quick performance of certain actions at the right time — for example, to hit an opponent who opens up for a second).As of the end of 2019, the God Of War series includes 7 main titles, of which 6 are "first era" (in the ancient Greek setting) and 1 "second era" (God Of War version of 2018); the continuation of the series is expected. All games are singleplayer focused, with the only multiplayer title being the last game of the first era, God of War: Ascension (2013).
