— a classic of fantasy role-playing games, one of the most well-known representatives of the genre from Blizzard. Technically, it's not a pure RPG, but an action/RPG (hack’n’slash). The game's plot revolves around the conflict between demons led by Diablo (the main antagonist of the game) and angels, on whose side the protagonist fights. The player can choose a character of a certain class; in the first game, the difference between classes is quite nominal, but later more significant differences were added. The first part of the game was released back in 1996, for PS1 in 1998. The second part was released in 2000 only for PC, and it entered the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest-selling game in history (as of the same year 2000), with the latest update for it dated 2016. One of the interesting features of the second part was a full-fledged multiplayer, allowing any interaction options in the game world: joint task completion (with combined efforts and shared experience), trading and exchanging equipment, and rivalry with PvP battles. Moreover, you can play both on specialized game servers Realm and on servers created by the players themselves (the downside of the latter option is the possibility of cheating by editing character attributes). The third part was introduced in 2012, for Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2013, and for Nintendo Switch in 2018. A technical feature of Diablo III is the requirement for a constant Internet connection—even for single-player, the proprietary Battle.net service is used (the server side is responsible for generating content, opponents, and items on the game levels). Each part had expansions released, including additional character classes and opponents, as well as story campaigns. For the first part, it's Hellfire from 1997 (considered non-canonical), for the second—Lord of Destruction from 2001, and for the third—Reaper Of Souls from 2014.Show
