Recently, a new niche of "creative" gadgets has appeared on the market of components. These are specialized laptops, monitors, video cards and motherboards created for video editors, artists, special effects specialists and other professionals who work with visual content. So Asus has recently been actively developing its line of ProArt motherboards, which, according to the company, will be an perfect option for a workstation with Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom, Autodesk AutoCAD and other specialized software.
According to the overall level of performance, pricing and equipment, these boards are asking for comparison with ROG Strix models. At least, with a cursory comparison, we will see the same flagship chipsets from AMD and Intel, the same integrated power systems for 12 – 16 phases and similar circuitry. The difference is that the hardware implementation of the capabilities is made with an emphasis on numerous high-speed interfaces. For example, many representatives of the Pro Art series are equipped with several USB-C interfaces at once with support for the Thunderbolt 4 protocol and DisplayPort mode, which greatly expands the possibilities for connecting external monitors and video cards or charging devices.
The most popular option in the line is the ProArt B550 Creator board, released in the spring of 2021. In its equipment, it is worth highlighting a pair of 2.5-gigabit network controllers, a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports, a Realtek ALC1220 sound chip. The board also received support for PCI Express 4.0 bus, and new Q-Latch screwless fasteners are used for its mounting, which ASUS introduced in the winter of 2021. In addition, the emphasized isolation from the boards from the game series gives the owner the rigor of the lines in the design and the complete absence of backlight elements.
