In the early 2020s, the Taiwanese manufacturer Asus announced an interesting collaboration with the creators of the cult anime Evangelion. The manufacturer’s idea is to release a pack of limited-edition components with an anime design from which anyone can assemble a PC in a single unusual style. Anime references are evident in the design of the boards, with references to the mechs, pilots and Nerv command center.

If we put the design aside and get acquainted with the characteristics, it quickly becomes clear that we are looking at the ultimate cool and damn expensive motherboards of the ROG Maximus/Crosshair level, aimed exclusively at enthusiasts, streamers and hardcore anime fans. Through the use of advanced power converters, specialized chokes and elite Japanese capacitors, ROG EVA boards are ideal for powering ultra-powerful Intel Core i9 processors with manual or automatic overclocking of all cores.

Considering the specifics of the EVA series, updates to the series occur rarely and only on important occasions. The most interesting and current model in the series is the Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02, which was released in the fall of 2023. This is a high-performance ATX board with top-end Intel Z790 system logic, a powerful 21-phase power system, support for DDR5-7800 memory, a high-speed PCI-E 5.0 data interface, Asus Aura Sync backlighting and a built-in amplifier from Saber. The board also features an additional VRM heatsink, thermal pads for M.2 zones, and numerous thermal sensors for easy overclocking. The board is decorated in red and black colors, and on one of the heatsinks there is a portrait of Asuka.
