In accordance with the name, the volume of data between the strips and the "motherboard" in this mode occurs in 4 streams simultaneously. This improves performance, especially in applications that are optimized for multi-threaded computing. For a long time, this mode was the most advanced in modern motherboards; only recently have high-end performance models supported more channels (usually 6) become available.

Note that to work in a four-channel mode, you need 4 (or a multiple of four) the number of RAM sticks with the same characteristics. Accordingly, motherboards with this function have at least four slots for "RAM". At the same time, a smaller number of brackets can be installed on such a board — for example, 3 for operation in three-channel mode.
