Unlike the other SC series, which mostly includes entry-level drives, the A-Data SE line is dominated by more interesting and status drives with interesting features. Firstly, they are made according to the “try to break” principle. Cases are usually made of durable aluminium, there is an additional frame inside to add rigidity, and the use of dense rubberized material can provide full protection against water and dust (note: most often IP68 protection). As a result, many A-Data SE drives have been certified to the beloved military standard MIL-STD-810G and can easily withstand drop tests from a two-metre height.

Another fundamental difference from the SC models is more serious equipment. Specifically, they use more serious memory controllers with optional support for the NVMe interface and high-speed USB-C 3.2 gen2 connectors. Even the simplest A-Data SE SSD provides at least twice the linear read speed of the SC series drives. So 2020 and earlier models can run at speeds up to 1000 Mbps. And the models that replaced them in 2021 with NVMe are already accelerating to 2000 MB / s.

Given the fairly affordable price and complete protection against any adversity, devices like the Data SE760 or SE800 do not have many competitors. Typically, fully protected external SSDs with NVMe cost one and a half to two times more. Here we have a minimum markup compared to A-Data SC drives. Well, as for the model range, everything is expected here - the public loves drives with a volume of 256 and 512 GB, but if you wish, you can easily find a version for 1 and even 2 TB.
