At the end of the last decade, manufacturers of computer peripherals finally realized that gamers ― these are by no means 10-year-olds who collect transformer figurines and throw themselves at everything brilliant. As a result, many companies began to move away from the usual dogmas and look for new forms. Sometimes these searches lead to unexpected places. As is the case with the experimental line of extravagant gaming ultrabooks-transformers Asus ROG Flow.

The first representative of the Flow family was the 13-inch Asus ROG Flow X13 laptop, which turns into a touch-screen tablet with a slight movement of the hand. This format is much more familiar to see in compact designer laptops of the Lenovo Yoga or Asus ZenBook Flip caliber. At the same time, in the maximum build, the ROG Flow X13 is the most powerful gaming laptop that leaves behind most gaming desktops. The top 8-core Ryzen 9 processor, GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card and 32 GB of overclocking RAM give it every right to claim the title of a workstation.

The thickness of ROG Flow laptops does not exceed 20 mm, and the weight, usually, barely exceeds a kilogram. Powerful hardware is physically impossible to fit in a 13-inch case, so Asus decided to put the graphics card in a separate ROG XG Mobile dock with a dedicated power supply, which connects to the laptop using the USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port. The dock also offers additional USB ports and has web interfaces for connecting to external displays. In order to save money, a simpler video accelerator like the GeForce GTX 1650 is most often installed inside the case.
