NFC

The range of NFC does not exceed 20 cm, while the chip can be used both as reader and as readable tag. Theoretically, the possibilities for using this technology are very extensive, but specifically in laptops, NFC plays mainly an auxiliary role — most often it is used for automatic connection via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. With such connection, you do not need to manually enter the settings: just bring your smartphone or other NFC-compatible gadget to the laptop chip — and the devices will automatically recognize each other, you just have to confirm the connection. Among other things, this way of working is often used to interact with smartphone (see "Multimedia").

Separately, it is worth touching on the difference between this function and the Smart Card slot (see the relevant paragraph). The NFC can also be used to work with smart cards (in fact, it is enough to install the appropriate software on laptop), but these cards must be contactless — based on RFID technology. In turn, the Smart Card slot uses the contact method of operation.
