— apple’s second edition of the M-series processors debuted at the dawn of the summer of 2022.M2 chips are manufactured with 5 nm process and hold quarter more transistors than the Apple M1 generation. Architecturally, their CPU consists of four high-performance and four energy-efficient cores. The graphical accelerator now has 10 cores, which increases graphics performance by third. The neural engine in Apple M2 is about 40% faster, and the chip adds powerful ProRes video engine for hardware acceleration of video encoding and decoding up to 8K resolution. For the M2 generation, external 6K displays are supported.
