Top motherboard from Asus, which occupies one of the leading positions among all parent companies of the brand. Equipped with an LGA 1700 processor socket, designed to install top-end Intel Core processors from the Alder Lake and Raptor Lake families. Positioned by the manufacturer as a premium product, it is included in the specialized line of ROG Strix EVA gadgets dedicated to the anime “Evangelion”.
The printed circuit board, protective elements, connection ports and near-socket space are painted predominantly in red in the style of “Evangelion”, and on one of the panels there is a portrait of Asuka. Otherwise, this is a motherboard familiar to the ROG Strix series with advanced Intel Z790 system logic, a powerful 21-phase power subsystem, top-end circuitry, a built-in Asus Aura Sync backlight system and support for Hi-End components.
Asus ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 is equipped with an LGA 1700 processor socket, runs on Intel Z790 higher order system logic, and is designed for installation with 12th and 13th generation Intel Core processors (Alder Lake and Raptor Lake). Unlike previous generations of ROG Strix motherboards, the system bus of this model supports the PCI-E 5.0 interface, which allows you to fully use the capabilities of modern SSD drives and video cards that support this interface.
To install M.2 drives, 5 (!) corresponding ports are provided at once, two of them are called ROG Hyper and are PCI-E 5.0 friendly. As an alternative to M.2, there are 6 more familiar SATA3 connectors for connecting classic drives (HDD 3.5” or SSD 2.5”). For mounting RAM, there are 4 DIMM slots into which you can load up to 192 GB of DDR5 RAM with a maximum clock frequency of 7800 MHz.
To effectively cool powerful components, the board is equipped with an additional VRM heatsink, thermal pads for M.2 zones and numerous thermal sensors controlled by Fan Expert software. As a bonus, a wireless module supporting Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 networks is already installed on board. And the SupremeFX sound system, in keeping with ROG Strix tradition, is equipped with the ES9218 SABER chip.
