Pop-up
— smartphones in which the front camera is installed on a special retractable module. During non-working hours, such a module is completely hidden in the case, and during use it “pops up” from the upper end of the device. Thanks to this design, the front camera does not require space on the front panel — as a result, this panel can be completely dedicated to the screen, and there are no extraneous “artifacts” on the screen itself, such as a teardrop protrusion or a cutout for the camera in the display (see the relevant paragraphs). In addition, the retractable module can be large enough to accommodate an advanced camera. The disadvantages of this form factor are the complexity of the design and the relatively low reliability (due to additional moving parts).
