The youngest model in the Ampere family
Introduced at the beginning of September 2020, NVIDIA's Ampere family of graphics cards made a lot of noise, offering players an unprecedented increase in power compared to the previous generation. When else will you see that the junior graphics card of the new line would put the former leader on the shoulder blades, which was stronger than yesterday?
Better performance than last year's flagship RX 2080
And despite the fact that the official price for the new GeForce RTX 3070 turned out to be half the last year's price for the GeForce RTX 2080! Although, in fairness, now it is the novelty that will cost more: almost $1000 in east european retail versus $700 for the RTX 2080. Either overpay or wait until the “greens” resolve the shortage issue and prices settle down. For such a leap, the company's engineers had to switch to a new 8nm process technology and reinvent the wheel. As a result, we got much faster video memory, almost double the number of stream processors (5888 versus 2944 for the RTX 2080), double the performance with ray tracing enabled, support for the PCI Express 4.0 bus, and much more. As for the variation from MSI, it belongs to the flagship Ventus / series. The card's video core operates at 1755 MHz, the memory operates at 14000 MHz, the other indicators do not differ from the reference cards.
Very quiet cooling system with low temperature control
Traditionally for NVIDIA products of recent years, the graphics card turned out to be massive: 305 mm long, occupies almost 3 slots, and is cooled by three coolers. All this goodness consumes 220 watts of energy and is designed to work in a case with a 650-watt power supply. It's great that instead of unnecessary lighting, the guys from MSI put an additional holder in the box, which should take the load off the PCI port and prolong the life of the motherboard. Well, its cooling system can surprise, in some projects the card did not rise above 50 degrees Celsius, and the coolers rustled barely noticeably, as if they were working in a passive mode.
