Dual GPS

— an additional function found in modern GPS receivers. Such receivers operate not on one frequency, like more traditional modules, but on two (“L1 + L5”) — thus receiving two signal packets at once and comparing them with each other. This operating format significantly increases the accuracy of positioning — in some cases up to 10–20 cm. In addition, Dual GPS allows for the correct processing of signals reflected from high-rise buildings — this increases efficiency in dense urban areas. However, it is worth noting that it is not always possible to take advantage of all the advantages of this function. Thus, full support for L5 is available only in the European Galileo system; in GPS (as of 2020), only about half of the satellites broadcast such information, and in GLONASS it is not expected until 2030.
