In wearable gadgets, such displays can vary from the simplest panels with 3-4 basic colours to high-resolution full-colour screens with support of several thousand or even millions of colours (like in smartphones, only smaller). Anyway, a colour image is more convenient in perception and pleasing to the eye than a monochrome image. However the displays themselves turn out to be more expensive and “gluttonous” in terms of power consumption than monochrome ones; but modern technologies make it possible to create affordable, energy-efficient and at the same time very functional panels, so this drawback is less and less significant.
