Thanks to the solar panel and increased lithium-polymer battery capacity (compared to the 45mm version), the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar 50mm watch showcases one of the best battery lives on the market — up to 40 days in standard mode. And with regular exposure to sunlight, the wrist device doesn't need to be plugged into an outlet at all. An additional increase in operating time is also provided with active GPS through the SatIQ optimization technology, which finds a balance between positioning accuracy and power consumption. In different navigation scenarios, the watch can operate from 34 to 260 hours.
Durable, Water-Resistant with Enhanced Navigation Capabilities
The Instinct model is designed for travelers and has a reinforced casing that meets the MIL-STD-810 standard, as well as enhanced water resistance up to 10 ATM. Navigation functionality is expanded with Dual GPS, a compass, breadcrumb tracking, a dual coordinate grid, and an incident detection system that sends your location data to a trusted contact. Furthermore, the watch is equipped with a full flashlight with four brightness levels of white light and a red SOS signal.
The watch supports a wide range of sports modes — from running to team sports and swimming. They calculate VO2 Max, analyze body energy, recovery, and readiness for training. Athletes can also connect additional sensors through the ANT+ protocol.
Convenience in Everyday Use
In everyday mode, the model tracks heart rate, saturation, stress levels, and provides sleep monitoring, including daytime sleep. An important advantage is the support for contactless payments with Garmin Pay. The 1.1-inch screen with an energy-efficient MiP matrix has moderate resolution and does not support touch control, which will require some getting used to. Nonetheless, the Garmin Instinct 3 Solar 50mm is a high-class smartwatch suitable for a wide range of tasks.
