— the fourth edition of the Thunderbolt interface uses a USB type C hardware connector and provides a theoretical maximum data transfer speed of up to 40 Gbps. Thunderbolt v4 closely intersects with USB4 (see "Connector"). However, not every USB type C port on a computer is suitable for connecting an SSD drive, only those that explicitly state compatibility with the corresponding format.
