Smith Machine

— a distinctive feature of all Smith machines is the presence of vertical or slightly inclined guides along which the bar moves during operation. The main types of exercises performed in such a device are various bench presses and squats; at the same time, the fixed trajectory of the movement of the bar provides some moments that are unattainable when working with free weight. At the same time, individual Smith machines designed for professional athletes can be equipped with a so-called 3D base, which allows the bar to move freely both vertically and horizontally. For traditional applications, horizontal movement in such models can usually be blocked.
