In 2016, in an attempt to bring the ultimate ultrabook to the public, HP completely relaunched its Specter line of premium laptops. Since then, the company has successfully competed with the MacBook Pro, Dell XPS, Asus ZenBook Flip, and other premium laptops, with members of the 2019 and 2020 Specter family getting the highest scores in the profile press reviews. For example, The Verge named the HP Specter X360 the best convertible laptop of 2019.

A signature feature of the updated line has become a non-trivial design, which one can be called royal. All edges of the laptop are angled to each other and reflect light from all directions like a gem. The golden colour of the decorative inserts for once does not look vulgar, but on the contrary, it emphasizes the elegance of the HP Specter. Completing the look are dark bronze matte panels on the back of the display unit and around the keyboard, which contrast with the gold in an interesting way.

Touch displays have become no less a reason for pride. Most of the representatives of the series are equipped with touch IPS and AMOLED of the highest level. They show top-end contrast, a serious margin of brightness and reference colour reproduction. An extended dynamic range will make it possible to enjoy HDR content, and a special heavy-duty Gorilla Glass NBT coating will reliably protect the display from mechanical damage. Well, barely noticeable side frames turn the Specter into a full-fledged tablet, which in terms of size and weight is just a little larger than the 13-inch iPad Pro. If this size is small, the range also includes classic options with a 15.6-inch display. Almost all matrices support 4K resolution, Full HD models are in the minority.

But that's not the end of the story. The asset of most models has an impressive list of useful things that can persuade you to buy. Among them are impressive battery life up to 20 hours on a single charge, support for the Thunderbolt interface and acoustics from Bang & Olufsen. To protect user data, a fingerprint scanner, a face geometry scanner (Face ID) and an optional TPM encryption module are most often used. Processors are usually at the level of Core i7, and the stock of RAM with a discrete graphics card allows you to comfortably work in professional programs like Ableton, Lightroom or Photoshop.
