Windows 10 Home
— the basic edition of the Windows 10 operating system: contains almost all the functions necessary for an ordinary user, but does not provide access to corporate tools, Update Centre settings and remote desktop management. Also note that, in addition to the classic Windows 10 Home, nowadays this OS can also be found in the S-mode edition; it is described below.Overall, Windows 10 is the newest version of the Windows operating system to date. It replaced Windows 8.1 (number 9 was skipped for technical reasons) and introduced many innovations: the built-in Cortana voice assistant, the Edge browser, support for multiple desktops, updated Start menu and notification centre, radical modernization, updating standard pre-installed programs, etc. P. Besides, initially the system differed in high degree of integration with mobile OS Windows 10 Mobile; however, the smartphone version proved unsuccessful and is no longer in use today.
As for S-Mode, this is specific edition of Windows 10 Home, created for maximum security (at the cost of limiting functionality). So, various programs can only be installed from the Windows Store, the ability to install from third-party sources is not available; only standard Microsoft Edge is available as browser, and Bing is available as built-in search engine. This narrows the user's options, but significantly reduces the risk of malware infection on the computer, and also allows the system to work efficiently even on relatively weak hardware platform. The creators position S Mode as the best solution for the educational sector, but in general, this edition is well suited primarily for simple tasks like Internet surfing or working with documents. It is possible to switch from S Mode to regular Windows 10 Home for free — however, this action cannot be undone, and most often it leads to significant performance losses.
