High-performance 250GB consumer M.2 SSD with high-speed PCIe 4x interface and full support for NVMe 1.3 protocol. Made in a compact form factor M.2 2280. It is positioned as a product of the upper part of the middle price category. Designed for personal computers, compatible laptops and entry-level workstations. The hardware basis of this model is a high-performance Samsung Phoenix multi-channel controller with a 512 MB DRAM buffer based on LPDDR4 memory.
64-layer proprietary 3D TLC V-NAND flash memory features enhanced reliability and decent I/O performance. The controller supports high-speed SLC write caching technology, which provides superior drive performance as a system drive. SSD Samsung 970 EVO M.2 MZ-V7E250BW guarantees ultra-fast loading of the operating system, resource-intensive applications and "heavy" games. The manufacturer declares an impressive guaranteed write resource (TBW) of 150 TB. This makes it possible to record about 40 GB of data daily for 10 years.

Decent model. Windows 10 boots up in 6 seconds (excluding BIOS loading and the post-screen). Speed Design (looks alright on the board) Not yet use Samsung MZ-V7E500BW few months |
I bought this drive for a Mi Notebook Pro laptop, as there is an additional M2 slot because the built-in memory is not a lot and another drive was needed for the so-called disk D. The SSD was bought with many years ahead in mind, so it was chosen carefully, prioritizing maximum speed and quality. It installed in the laptop without any issues, everything runs smoothly as expected, and the speed is impressive. For example, installing a 30 GB game was unpacked in about 1 - 1.5 minutes, with copying speed within the drive around 1200 MB/s. Of course, it's worth noting the very convenient form factor; I hadn't used such before, and here there are no cables or power supply needed, just plug it into the slot and off you go. The maximum temperature I've seen it reach under load is about 40 degrees. Speed and more speed Nothing of course |
I bought it for fast Windows performance. I read a lot of different comments, reviews, and tests, and it seems Samsung is the best of all similar gadgets. When it comes to copying, as the tests showed, sometimes it’s very fast, sometimes not so much, but still cool. I saw a comment from someone saying theirs heats up to 70°C with Windows, but I don’t have that issue. My case is open, positioned two centimeters from the hot graphics card, and it runs at 40-47°C, never showed higher temperatures in the fall, maybe it will be warmer in the summer. I installed a cooler opposite it, a bit far due to the processor’s heatsink getting in the way, but at 800 RPM, it’s now running at 35-42°C, even with the graphics card heated during gaming. If placed closer with higher RPM, the result will definitely be better. Not yet. But there's a note: a regular SSD (Patriot Pyro 240GB) loaded Windows in 10-12 seconds, and this one loads in 5-7 seconds before antivirus installation, and 6-12 seconds with antivirus, varying each time. It doesn't get along with Intel Optane modules, maybe it needs to be converted from GPT to something else, I'm not really sure about this. use Samsung MZ-V7E250BW few months |

Evolution by Linnaeus
Samsung 970 EVO M.2 is a “jet” solid-state drive with an M.2 NVMe interface, far exceeding in speed typical 2.5-inch SATA and M.2-SATA drives. It is built on Samsung's proprietary 3D TLC memory and a Phoenix controller. The flagship 970 PRO M.2 model has the same controller but with even faster and more durable 3D MLC memory. Both models come with an extended five-year warranty.
Hot Item
The linear read and write speeds within a 10-gigabyte SLC array are 3400 and 1500 MB/s, which is three to seven times faster than top SATA SSDs. When the array overflows, the read speed doesn't change, but the write speed drops threefold, which roughly corresponds to the level of planar MLC memory. However, PC users rarely operate with 10-gigabyte files, so the speed drop due to SLC array overflow will practically not occur. On the other hand, an emergency speed drop due to controller overheating is a typical situation for NVMe SSDs. The problem is solved by a cooling heatsink, which is sold both separately and in some motherboard kits.
Not a Second to Lose
Even more impressive is the speed of processing the smallest 4K blocks: 350 thousand and 250 thousand IOPS for reading and writing respectively. The credit for this goes not only to the fast Samsung memory and the Phoenix controller but also to the DDR4 DRAM cache (instead of the low-frequency DDR3). We can recommend the Samsung 970 EVO M.2 primarily to avid gamers and computer enthusiasts who are already outgrowing the bandwidth of SATA drives. Just make sure to check before buying whether the M.2 slot of your PC or laptop supports the NVMe interface or only the slower M.2-SATA.
