How to choose the right SSDChoosing an SSD with the required speed and good reliability for home, work and gaming
Model overview based on user reviews
The Samsung 870 EVO SSD is highly regarded for its reliability and speed, making it a popular choice among users. Many appreciate its durability and the fact that it maintains consistent performance even with large volumes. Users have noted the ease of installation and the availability of official software that enhances its functionality. The drive is praised for its low operating temperatures and five-year warranty, which add to its appeal. While some users mention the price as a downside, they generally agree that the performance justifies the cost. A few have experienced slower speeds than advertised, but these instances seem to be exceptions rather than the rule. Overall, the Samsung 870 EVO is seen as a high-quality SSD suitable for a variety of uses, including gaming and file storage.

wonderful model, really honored

In my case, the 2TB drive is used as file storage in addition to the 500GB NVMe M.2.
A reliable, proven brand (I've had the 970 EVO Plus M.2 for five years under the system and games without any problems). The +/- speed corresponds to the declared one and for my usage scenarios (file storage) is more than enough. Compared to NVMe M.2. we can say that it doesn't heat up at all, temperatures under load up to 50 degrees.
I have no issues with the drive itself, but it would be nice if the manufacturer included at least two screws for mounting at this price. Even with my stock of computer hardware, I had to spend time finding screws of the required length and shape.

Great cold disk, very fast!

Actually, I already wrote a review for this drive on DNS on 02/23/2021. I was simply surprised by the previous reviews here. That's the only reason why I decided to share my own experience. And don't get me wrong, I'm not a marketer. It's just that the people here writing about low speeds are probably doing something wrong! Maybe they got a bad batch. Or perhaps competitors are purposely writing negative things about this device. I've been using this 2TB Evo drive for a year now. The speeds match the claimed specifications. And if you enable the Rapid mode option, the synthetic tests show very impressive numbers. In practice, the speeds remain the same, plus it uses up RAM. It's very cool, and I use it for all sorts of stuff: torrents, games, movies. In the screenshots, I showed speeds with and without Rapid mode enabled. I also used the Samsung program to show the normal speed and temperature.
cold, at idle 20°, under load 30°- 35° speed

Disappointed by the deception of the manufacturer.

The speeds do not match the stated ones; right after unpacking, I tested with Samsung Magician and Crystal Disk Mark, with reading at 403 and writing at 402 MB/s.
When copying to the disk, it doesn't heat up much. Copied to a 1.5 TB disk, the temperature did not rise above 40C, but in my case, there's just a strong airflow.
Does not meet the stated speeds.
