The Samsung 950 Pro is currently the fastest SSD available in the retail market. Record-breaking performance was achieved thanks to Samsung V-NAND multi-layer memory and a UBX controller that supports PCIe 3.0 x4 bus with a bandwidth of up to 32 Gbps. For comparison, SATA III has a maximum speed of only 6 Gbps.
Writes fast, reads even faster
The 256GB version of the Samsung 950 Pro has a sequential read speed of 2200MB/s and a write speed of 900MB/s. The speed characteristics of the 480-GB version are even higher: 2500 and 1500 MB / s, respectively.
Ultra M.2 port
The newfangled Ultra M.2 interface is both an advantage and a disadvantage of the Samsung 950 Pro. On the one hand, only it allows you to unlock the full potential of the drive. On the other hand, only motherboards with the Intel Z170 chipset have such a slot so far. And such motherboards, like the Samsung 950 Pro itself, are very expensive. With this in mind, we can only recommend the Samsung 950 Pro to avid gamers and computer enthusiasts.
