The pre-top model in the RX 6000 line

The pre-top model Radeon RX 6800 XT is content with a Navi 21 XT crystal with 72 computing units, which use 4608 stream processors. The operating frequencies of the video core range from 2015 to 2250 MHz. At the same time, for this model, the manufacturer claims the peak operating frequency of the graphics processor at 2250 MHz. Like the younger version, the Radeon RX 6800 XT model is equipped with 16 GB of GDDR6 video memory with an effective operating frequency of 16 GHz, support for a 256-bit bus and a theoretical bandwidth of 512 GB / s. The claimed power consumption is 300W, so AMD recommends using a PSU of at least 750W. Like the younger card, the RX 6800 XT is equipped with two 8-pin connectors for connecting additional power.

Optimal 4K performance

Compared to its predecessor, the Radeon RX 5700 XT, the new graphics card showed a significant increase in performance, in some cases it reached an impressive 70%. If you put the RX 6800 XT nose to nose with its rival GeForce RTX 3080, then their performance will be almost identical: both cards give out 100+ FPS in Full HD (this is understandable) and finally make it possible to fully play 4K without drawdowns and hanging. Radeon's only performance lags behind is ray tracing, but judging by the tone of the discussions online, many gamers don't care. If we compare the official prices, the Radeon will cost $50 less, however, due to a strong shortage, some kind of hell is going on with prices and in a month or two both companies can tweak the price tags, changing the balance of power at the table.

Stable operating frequencies and adequate operating temperatures

In addition to performance, I was impressed by the stability of operating frequencies and adequate operating temperatures, unlike the hot predecessor. So the frequency of the graphics core during the tests confidently kept above 2400 MHz, and the arrow of the virtual thermometer never rose to 70. It seems that this time AMD has got a really sensible architecture with excellent prospects. It will be especially interesting to see how the RX 6800 XT and Ryzen 5 5600X will perform in synergy in the future.
