An affordable gaming graphics card with a dual-slot cooling system and overclocker profiles that are activated using the AORUS Graphics Engine application. It is distinguished by the use of an improved PCB design with a reinforced power subsystem and the presence of factory overclocking profiles. It is positioned as a product of the basic price category, focused on use in low-cost gaming systems and multifunctional home PCs equipped with FullHD-resolution monitors. Able to provide a consistently high frame rate in the vast majority of games in 2015-2020 at a resolution of 1920x1080 at high or medium-high graphics settings. It is equipped with a proprietary Windforce 2X cooling system with 6 mm heat pipes, an advanced two-section aluminium radiator and two quiet 80 mm fans. Such a cooler ea...sily handles with standard heat dissipation (up to 120 W) and is able to cope with moderate overclocking. At the heart of the Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1060 WINDFORCE OC 6G graphics card is an Nvidia GP106 GPU (Pascal microarchitecture) coupled with 6GB of GDDR5 graphics memory, which enables highly detailed and realistic-looking HD textures. The card is equipped with an additional PCI-E 6-pin connector and does not impose high requirements on the system power supply (from 400 W and above). Supports VR headset connection.

With thoughts of tomorrow

The six-gig modification of the Gigabyte GTX 1060 WindForce 2 OC is a graphics card, so to speak, with a reserve for the future. Thanks to the large amount of video memory, it, paired with a Core i5 Coffee Lake, Core i7 Kaby Lake or Ryzen 5 processor, allows you to unscrew the settings at FullHD resolution in current games, if not to the maximum, then at least close to them. If you wish, you can play around with 2K and even 4K resolution (including NVIDIA DSR software), but in this case, the settings will have to be lowered to medium, or even minimal. In future games, already having a powerful processor, it will be enough to upgrade only the graphics card and continue playing at maximum speeds.

No overpayment for design

The appearance of the GTX 1060 WindForce 2 OC is instantly recognizable as a mid-range Gigabyte graphics card. There are two fans, but there is only one heat pipe, and there is no backlight, at least one-colour, not to mention custom RGB. Models with an emphasis on decor Gigabyte recently moved to a separate sub-brand Aorus. And, perhaps, this is even good, as it had a positive effect on the cost of the GTX 1060 WindForce 2 OC.

Volcanic impact

The weak point of the GeForce GTX 1060 compared to the competing Radeon RX 580 is DirectX12 and Vulkan graphics modes. Although they are supported, when switching to them from the classic DirectX11, the frame rate in games does not change at best, and at worst even drops a little. Whereas the RX 580 gets an FPS increase of 5-10 percent. However, the loss is small, because in current games the picture quality between DirectX11 and DirectX12/Vulkan is almost the same.
