— IPS technology was originally developed to create professional monitors with high colour reproduction, suitable for designers, artists, layout designers, photo and video editors, etc. Indeed, already early varieties of such matrices showed excellent colour fidelity, high contrast and good black depth colours. The initial disadvantage of such screens was long response time, which made them poorly suitable for games and other similar tasks; however, as technology has advanced, this shortcoming has been virtually eliminated. But the price of IPS-screens has been and remains quite high.Note that to date, many varieties of IPS matrices have been developed. Here are the most popular options on the market today:
— P-IPS, H-IPS — professional standards that place maximum emphasis on colour reproduction quality;
— AH-IPS — another professional standard, relatively new and optimized for ultra-high resolutions;
— E-IPS is relatively inexpensive variety of IPS matrices, which at the same time has good response time and is not much inferior to more advanced standards in terms of “picture” quality.
It is also worth saying that sometimes the characteristics of modern monitors simply indicate “IPS”. However, the original IPS technology has practically fallen into disuse, and such marking means that for some reason the manufacturer did not want to more accurately indicate the type of matrix.
