The representative of the 2024 gaming lineup Odyssey is a 27-inch monitor from Samsung in the mid-price range. The model stands out with its moderately sleek design that adds versatility and helps it fit into almost any interior. An important feature is its ergonomic stand: it not only tilts but also allows you to adjust the screen height (12 cm), swivel, and even switch to portrait orientation.

The Samsung Odyssey G50D 27 is based on an IPS panel with a resolution capability of 2560x1440 pixels. Specifically for gaming enthusiasts, it offers a high refresh rate of 180 Hz and a fast response time (1 ms from gray to gray). Additionally, it features adaptive sync (AMD FreeSync), a Black Equalizer option that enhances visibility in dark areas, and the ability to display a crosshair.

With the standard IPS contrast ratio (1000:1), the image boasts a significant brightness margin (up to 350 nits + compliance with the DisplayHDR 400 standard for HDR content) and claims to cover 99% of the sRGB color model space. Other highlights include the Eye Saver mode for eye protection, compatibility with VESA 100x100 mm mounts, and the presence of two video transmission ports — DisplayPort v 1.2 and HDMI 2.0.

How to Choose a Gaming MonitorWe understand matrix types, suitable resolution, FreeSync and other important aspects when choosing a gaming monitor
Good monitor
25 December 2025
I've wanted to try something more than 75 Hz for a long time and finally decided to get this monitor. The first thing I really liked is its stand, probably the first stand that does a great job; with it, the monitor doesn't wobble, which always annoyed me before. There are many height adjustments, screen rotation, and even portrait mode. I always had FullHD 24" monitors, so I had to get used to 2K because everything was tiny, but after a couple of months, I got accustomed. I'll say right away that in gaming, I didn't notice any difference in the refresh rate, whether it's 75 or 180, I don't see a difference. The only thing that's noticeable is the 2560x1440 resolution, offering a significantly larger gaming space in usual games. The colors "out of the box" were configured very brutally; it really burned my eyes, so I had to spend about half an hour setting up the picture to match my other monitor. I also liked that it's very economical in terms of power consumption; I connect it to a laptop during blackouts to work. Because of the stand, it takes up quite a bit of space on the table, so if you have a small table, it'll be close to your eyes. I have it set so it hangs a bit over the table and rests against the wall. About picture quality, I think I don't need to elaborate since it's a regular IPS monitor. If you set it up correctly, you'll be satisfied. There were no dead pixels or backlight bleed when purchased.

In general, I've had it for 4 months now, and there haven't been any problems, so I can confidently recommend this monitor.
Many adjustment modes, good stand

In my opinion, it is absolutely worth the price.
22 December 2024
I bought it in September and I absolutely love it. I'm a student and I use it as a second monitor for my laptop. It's perfect for watching YouTube videos and movies, as well as for programming. I also play games on it sometimes.
Smooth image, ability to change orientation and rotation angle. Very easy to assemble.
(not critical for me) fixed tilt angle. It also lacks speakers and only includes a DisplayPort cable; you need to buy an HDMI separately. This is critical if, like me, you own a laptop rather than a desktop PC.
