In LCD models, such a layer enhances the backlighting of the IPS or VA matrix, while in QD-OLED, it works together with self-emitting OLED pixels. These models provide a wider color gamut, such as closer to DCI-P3, and are better suited for HDR, gaming, movies, and graphic work. However, the label QD-IPS, QD-VA, or QD-OLED does not necessarily guarantee a perfect picture: brightness, contrast, factory calibration, and the quality of the specific matrix are also important.
