— a microphone mounted on a small boom that is attached to one of the headphones (in most cases, the left one). Such a bar may have a different design. So, the simplest option is a non-removable bow on a swivel mount, which allows you to remove the microphone from your face by lifting it vertically; in addition, there are removable and retractable arms, for more information about them, see the corresponding items in this list. Also note that the boom can be supplemented with a microphone on the cable or in the headphone case.

Anyway, microphones on the bow are the most popular among overhead headphones: a large cup can be supplemented with a boom without sacrificing convenience, and the microphone itself is located far from the headphones, which has a positive effect on the purity of the sound. There are also more compact models with this feature — intracanal and liners (see "Design"); however, they most often take the form of single-ear headsets.
