This is the highest level of water protection found in modern "ears": it suggests the possibility of a long (30 minutes or more) immersion under water to a considerable depth (at least 1 m). Specific restrictions for different models may be different, they should be clarified separately. However, if moisture resistance is crucial for you, you should pay attention to this particular category of headphones. Such models, with almost no restrictions, are suitable at least for sports swimming (with immersion of the head under water); some of them are able to transfer and more extreme use — such as diving or jumping from a tower; and more trivial tasks, like being in the rain or in the shower, are out of the question. We also emphasize that headphones with protection level 8 may be the best choice for "land" use — for example, if you often have to be outdoors in bad weather: high resistance to moisture means high reliability in general.

Note that theoretically, instead of the letter X in the marking according to the IP standard, there can be another number describing the resistance to dust and foreign objects. However, modern headphones with a moisture resistance of 8 most often have the “IPX8” marking — it means that the device has not been tested for dust resistance and has been certified only for moisture resistance. In this case, this is due to the fact that there is simply no need to carry out additional testing: complete protection against moisture, by definition, also means complete impermeability to dust.
