— headphones that support aptX sound transmission technology; it can be either the original version of this technology, or a more advanced version — aptX HD, aptX LL or aptX Adaptive. The aptX codec was originally created to improve the quality of Bluetooth audio. In a normal Bluetooth connection, the audio signal is highly compressed, and this greatly affects the clarity of the sound. The aptX format compensates for this shortcoming: it provides increased bandwidth, allowing the transmission of sound comparable in quality to Audio CD (16-bit/44.1kHz). However this quality still falls short of a full-fledged Audio CD, but the difference is noticeable mainly to sophisticated music lovers and on high-end headphones.
As for newer versions of this codec, the features of aptX HD and aptX LL are described in detail in the corresponding help items; we only note that in the first case, the improvements affected the overall quality of the transmitted sound, in the second — the elimination of delays and synchronization accuracy. In turn, aptX Adaptive combines the capabilities of these standards, and also provides a number of its own innovations — primarily the so-called adaptive bitrate, which allows you to optimize the use of the channel without compromising the quality of the audible sound.
