The meaning of such a design may be different, but most often it is used to allocate its own emitter for each individual frequency band. This is especially true for armature models (see "Emitter Type"): such speakers have a rather narrow frequency range, and there should be several of them to fully cover the entire audible range. This category also includes, by definition, all models with a hybrid device (see ibid.). But among the headphones with a dynamic principle of operation, there is another option for using several emitters — to fully support multi-channel sound (see the relevant paragraph).
