Inspiron series laptops appeared back in those bearded days when Elon Musk just came to PayPal, Titanic received 11 Oscars, and the French national team had just won the home World Cup. Initially, these were purely utilitarian machines at $ 300 apiece, which were bought in bundles to offices. Over the 20 years of its existence, this series has seriously expanded, so for ease of understanding, we will divide it into 3 levels — initial, intermediate and upper.

Dell Inspiron entry―level models stand out even by the standards of typewriters for office work — the simplest Inspirion can be purchased for a ridiculous $ 250, and the average check for the model range does not exceed $ 600. In the 2018 — 2019 models, very weak dual-core Intel Celeron chips were used, and the RAM supply was limited to a modest 4 GB, which is enough for Windows 10, a browser with a couple of tabs and Trello. Of the little things useful in everyday life, the only thing that catches the eye is a card reader, dual-band Wi-Fi and an old-school DVD drive.

The 2020 — 2021 devices look more serious: the RAM reserve has grown to the minimum required 8 GB, the much more performant quad core Core i3 has assumed the role of the central processor, and nimble M.2 SSDs have taken the place of clumsy hard drives. Well, the most senior laptops like Dell Inspiron 14 7400 and Inspiron 14 7490 would be more correct to write in the class of premium laptops with modern equipment and spectacular appearance. They are much thinner and lighter than their counterparts, the frames around the display are barely noticeable, and the dominant light grey coloring of the aluminium case resembles a MacBook Pro rather than boring work laptops.

In addition to classic working laptops and stylish ultrabooks, there are also transformer laptops in the ranks of Inspiron. Outwardly, they are no different from their counterparts, but their screens are touch-sensitive, and the hinges rotate 360 degrees, making it possible to turn the display in the opposite direction and work with a laptop as with a regular tablet. However, the phrase "as with a regular tablet" is not entirely appropriate in this case.

Unlike competing Lenovo Flex, Acer Swift and Asus Flip models, Inspiron transformers are closer in format to classic laptops than small ultrabooks. The average representative of the series is equipped with a 14-inch display, and its weight is selected to two kilograms. Keeping such a device in the air while reading a book or flipping through the pages of a virtual magazine is still a pleasure.
