Laptops with Meteor Lake CPU (Series 1)
Meteor Lake (Series 1)
— the Meteor Lake architecture, which debuted towards the end of 2023, marked a departure from a monolithic die in favor of a multi-chip layout. In total, the processors of this family consist of four smaller crystals, combined with Intel Foveros technology. So, the Meteor Lake structure includes a computing chiplet with clusters of Redwood Cove P-cores and Crestmont E-cores (7 nm process technology), an integrated graphics crystal (5 nm), SoC and I/O modules (6 nm), a basic 3D Foveros chip, which is responsible for combining crystals into one system. It is also important to mention two additional low-power LP-E (Low Power Efficient-core) cores, which are located in the SoC chiplet. This approach makes it possible to better optimize microcircuits for specific tasks, thereby significantly improving energy efficiency indicators. Core Ultra chips based on the Meteor Lake family became the first “swallows” from Intel with an integrated engine for accelerating tasks related to artificial intelligence (NPU). Serie 1 processors also gain support for Wi-Fi 7, Thunderbolt 4 (but without Thunderbolt 5) and DisplayPort 2.1 connection standards. They can work with LPDDR5(x)-7467 (up to 64 GB) or DDR5-5600 (up to 96 GB) memory. The chips are used in powerful and thin laptops.
